31st Annual day celebrations at Mitra Jyothi on 27th March 2021!!

Mitra Jyothi celebrated 31st annual day on 27th March 2021. It was a wonderful moment for the team to celebrate the 31st annual day as Mitra Jyothi completed 31 years of service towards the empowerment of visually impaired community as on 20th March 2021. Along with the Mitra Jyothi staff & students, few volunteers and one of our trustee member were also part of the celebration. By considering the pandemic situation, this year the function was conducted in a small way with internal members alone.
The event commenced with lighting the lamp by Ms. Madhu Singhal (Founder), Mr Sunil (Trustee Member) and few students. It was followed by invocation dance by students, Aneeyamma and Tanushree which was mesmerizing. Welcome address was delivered by Ms. Madhu Singhal to invite all the people present. Ms Padma from Dell participated in the occasion and arranged for a cake cutting as well on behalf of entire Dell team, also highlighted about the “Earth Hour” initiative at Dell and requested all to switch off lights for an hour on 27th March from 8.30 to 9.30 PM to contribute towards energy saving.

Ms. Sathiya, our Executive Director gave a brief report about various activities conducted by Mitra Jyothi during the year and she highlighted about the remarkable work done at Braille Transcription center, also she mentioned about all the other programmes and thanked the entire team of Mitra Jyothi for making out the outcome despite of the challenges faced due to COVID 19 this year.

Mitra Jyothi always appreciates and encourages the work done by the volunteers who are the backbone of the NGO. We honoured few volunteers who are working with us over a period of time with their whole heart and dedication; volunteers recognized this year were Mrs. Neeshu, Mr. Ramayya, Mrs. Prachi and Mrs. Kavitha.

Mitra Jyothi recognizes the young visually impaired students for their achievements which makes them unique in the community. Harsha, Sireesha and Sujatha who has proven themselves in their academics were honoured with “R K Singhal Academic Excellence Award”.

Staff members play a vital role for running the organization, hence we felicitate every year few staffs as well for their long term contribution towards the society. We had felicitated two employees who have completed five years of service in Mitra Jyothi – Mr. Ramu and Ms. Sainamma.

Around 15 DAISY players were distributed to students under ADIP scheme and with the contribution from supporters.

Mitra Jyothi computer training center is a platform for the visually impaired students to learn computer starting from keyboard usage and screen readers. Mitra Jyothi courses are NIIT Foundation certified ones. Mitra Jyothi’s 38th computer batch students are getting certified this month both in Computer and Mobility, hence we covered their valedictory function as well along with annual day. Distributed certificates with gifts for the top performers. This year every mobility top performers were identified and recognized with smart canes as gift.

Post recognitions, the much-awaited cultural programs started. All the students were enthusiastic to showcase their talents. There were many activities including a solo dance by Aneeyamma, mimicry by Satheesha and Tanushree , a group song followed by amazing rhythm of Keyboard play by Rohan. The cultural events were mind blowing and well appreciated by audience. The event was closed with a vote of thanks & national anthem whole heartedly followed by yummy snacks.

The celebration was an occasion of joy and togetherness with the entire team work after long time. Still the team missed other family members presence and wishes who regularly visit us during this occasion. Looking forward to continue our services effectively through possible means and get the family together on next annual day...
